Tourism without borders

On March 19, 2009, at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee, the application of the Association for the Development and Promotion of Podkarpacie "Pro Carpathia" was approved, in which the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion Poland is a National Partner with a budget of EUR 83 820.00 including ERDF funding 71 247.00 EUR and own contribution EUR 12 573.00.

The main goal

The main idea of the project is to popularize the potential of the Polish-Slovak borderland based on sustainable tourism, developed through a cross-border partnership. The main goal of the project is to increase the possibilities of using the tourist attractiveness of the borderland.

Detailed objectives

  1. Improving the quality of tourism services (thanks to the tourism services certification system, training of tourism industry staff).
  2. Promotion of natural and cultural resources of the border area.
  3. Improving the flow of information on tourist offers, cultural and tourist events.
  4. Creation of a Polish - Slovak tourist offer.

As part of the project, activities related to the promotion of the region (conferences, publications (including historical and socio-economic magazines), study visits, participation in tourist fairs, cross-border events, film, websites) and activities aimed at using the existing resources were planned. (e.g. Eco-museum program in Slovakia). The project will also contribute to increasing quality and competitiveness.

The project implementation began on July 1, 2009, and the project completion is scheduled for September 2011. On September 15, 2009, the Project Opening Conference was held in Polańczyk, organized by the Lead Partner (Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Rozwoju i Promocji Podkarpacie "Pro Carpathia ").

Under the project, the Carpathian Euroregion has so far implemented the following activities:

  • A design office was set up.
  • As part of the action "Creation of the tourist information subsystem in the member self-governments of SEKP", 10 consultation meetings were held, aimed, inter alia, at the preparation of the methodological and technical assumptions for the above-mentioned subsystem.
  • The "Analysis of the impact of EU funds on the development of tourism" was carried out, including:
    • The scope of projects co-financed under the programs implemented by the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion Poland: PHARE Program, Community Initiative Program INTERREG IIIA Poland - Slovak Republic 2004-2006 in the field of tourism was identified and described, and a database of projects was created.
    • The durability and continuation of the above-mentioned projects was carried out by the method of sociological research, as well as the preparation of a report on the conducted research along with the preparation of recommendations for the future.
