Project description
The umbrella project of Promotion of the common historical and cultural heritage of Poland and Ukraine - "Fortress Przemyśl", implemented by the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion Poland - is financed by the European Union under the Cross-border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.
Purpose of the project
The aim of the project is to support the social and economic development of border areas in the Przemyśl poviat in Poland and the mościska region in Ukraine by promoting the infrastructure of the "Fortress Przemyśl".
During the 12 months of the project, 22 partners under 10 micro-projects will undertake a number of activities in Poland and Ukraine in order to develop socio-economic development of border areas by promoting the infrastructure of the "Fortress Przemyśl".
Development of the Polish-Ukrainian promotion strategy for the "Fortress of Przemyśl", workshops for the tourism sector, preparation of virtual trips through fortifications and other historically interesting places on the border, preparation of the historical reconstruction of the struggle for Przemyśl, culinary and art workshops, sports events, launching of the youth volunteering program aimed at renovation of buildings and surrounding forts, graves and chapels in military cemeteries, establishing cooperation between schools from the Przemyśl Poviat and the Mościski Region in order to cultivate the cultural and historical heritage of the "Przemyśl Fortress" are only some of the projects prepared by the Association, which are planned to be implemented from January 2014.
