Unity in Diversity. Intercultural education in the common area of the Slovak - Polish borderland

The implementation of the project allowed for the dissemination of knowledge in the field of multiculturalism, cultural, national and religious identity of ethnic groups living in the common border area serving to build attitudes of openness and dialogue between societies, as well as the development of cooperation and contacts between societies, based on mutual respect and tolerance. As part of the micro-project, workshops, two International Conferences and intercultural education courses were organized for students of higher and secondary schools both in Poland and Slovakia. A bilingual textbook on intercultural education has also been published. On the basis of the prepared materials, 50 demonstration lessons were conducted in secondary schools both in Poland and Slovakia.
The main activities carried out under the project:
- Organization of workshops for academic teachers and organization of an international scientific conference in Prešov and Jarosław - the implementation of the task was aimed at increasing the intercultural competences of academic teachers from partner universities. In addition, knowledge was disseminated among students, including in the field of multiculturalism, cultural identity and religious ethnic groups living in the common border area. This served to build attitudes of openness and dialogue between societies, as well as to develop cooperation and contacts based on mutual respect and tolerance. Two international conferences were also organized in Jarosław and Presov.
- Conducting intercultural education courses for students of higher and secondary schools in Poland and Slovakia - as a result of the task, new didactic and educational materials for intercultural education and textbooks for intercultural education (in Polish and Slovak) were created. A Slovak-Polish team of experts participated in the process of creating and developing educational materials.
- Conducting 50 demonstration lessons with the use of new didactic materials in secondary schools in Poland and Slovakia . On the basis of the developed didactic materials, 50 demonstration lessons were conducted in secondary schools both in Poland and Slovakia. A total of 2,275 students participated in the demonstration lessons.
