Beneficiary: Przeworsk Commune
Slovak partner: Current Spissky Hrhov
Implementation period: 01/02/2017 - 31/12/2017
Realized project value: € 47 396.89 , including ERDF co-financing: € 40 287.34 ,
The project was aimed at maintaining the identity and tradition of the regions through joint artistic, culinary, handicraft and tourist activities. Thanks to the micro-project, important aspects of the authentic heritage in the area of traditional handicrafts (embroidery) and local dishes were revitalized. There was a departure from schematicism and design populism through the inventory of traditional local handicraft and culinary resources during creativity meetings and the development of unique concepts of regional products. The project activities led to the popularization of cultural heritage, including regional traditions and customs, and allowed for the presentation and promotion of authentic regional design and its preservation in a permanent form (publication of recipes and development of an embroidery pattern book).
The main activities carried out under the project:
- Organization of creativity workshops and development of a template - the task of the workshops was to accurately identify the condition of the handicraft (cross-stitch), assess its current value, learn about the expectations of participants, choose the course of action, and at the same time search for attractive local and regional references. 8 meetings were organized (4 each in Poland and Slovakia), attended by a total of 100 people from both sides of the border. During the workshop, a set of conceptual patterns was prepared, which were used to develop the "Pattern" of embroidery, which was issued in 2,000 copies.
- Organization of two-day embroidery workshops in Poland and Slovakia under the guidance of an instructor. During the workshops, both in Slovakia and Poland, cannas were used, which were created as part of the creativity workshops, as well as patterns developed in the pattern of embroidery. The culmination of the workshops in Poland was an exhibition of the artists' works combined with a conference and a debate on the development of handicrafts in the field of cross-stitch and other creative activities of non-professional artists. Apart from the workshop participants, the conference was attended by local artists, representatives of local governments, non-governmental organizations and schools.
- "We bring back the flavors of Polish and Slovak cuisine." The task was to save the recipes for traditional local dishes from oblivion. Both in Przeworsk and Spissky Hrhov Commune, interviews were conducted with the oldest inhabitants in order to recreate recipes for local dishes, which were then published in the book "Tastes of Borderland". The task also included culinary workshops in Slovakia and Poland. The task was finalized by the event "Gala tastes of the borderland" organized in the Przeworsk commune, during which the cultural achievements of local artists and bands were presented. It was a great opportunity to exchange experiences and establish friendships between workshop participants.
