Realized project value: € 115 563.96 , including ERDF co-financing: € 93 780.15 ,

The 203 km cross-border cycling route was created as a result of a project aimed at directing cycling tourism to places attractive in terms of cultural and natural heritage. On the Polish side, the route is 150 km long and runs through the most interesting areas of the Low Beskids: Puławy, Posada Jaśliska, Jaśliska, Wola Niżna, Odrzechowa, as well as through non-existent villages such as: Wernejówka, Polany Surowiczne, Czeremcha. On the other hand, the route on the Slovak side is within the borders of Driečna, Vladiča, Staškovce, Makovce, Havaj, Malá Poľana, Miková, Rokytovce, Krásny Brod, Medzilaborce, Habura and Čertižné with two crossings to Poland, and its section is 53 km in total . In addition, 4 tourist shelters were built along the route, which are to serve as rest and recreation facilities. Each of them is equipped with an internal grill, which will allow picnicking regardless of weather conditions. In addition, at each shelter there is a bicycle stand and an information board. On the route, there are also 3 other boards informing about the natural and historical values of the borderland.

The main activities carried out under the project:

  • Marking of 203 km of bicycle routes along with the construction of accompanying infrastructure . On the Polish side, 150 km of bicycle routes have been marked. On the route, 4 tourist sheds were built (forestry: Szachty, Szklary, Bukowica, Lipowiec). These are facilities equipped with an internal grill, which will allow picnicking regardless of the weather. Apart from the resting and protective functions, e.g. against rain, the shelters fulfill recreational functions. Each of them has a bicycle stand, information boards and a garbage can. Additionally, three other information boards were set up along the route. Information boards contain content on the natural and historical values of the borderland, including: Natura 2000, descriptions of non-existent Lemko villages, the functions and importance of the forest and a description of the project. Earthworks were also carried out. The works were performed on 4 sections: Puławy - Budy, Puławy - Bukowica, Bukowica - Darów, Polański - Surowica. On the Slovak side, 53 km of bicycle routes have been marked. The unevenness of the ground was leveled, the road was widened to 2.5-3.5 m and two wooden bridges were built. Three shelters were built as part of the bicycle route. There is also one open-air place to rest and 4 bicycle stands on the route. The entire length of the route has been marked with appropriate signs and direction boards for the orientation of cyclists. There are also information boards (7) containing a map of the route with marked places, their location along the route and a description of the cultural and natural heritage.
  • Organization of a conference opening the project in Puławy , attended by 50 people, including representatives of local government authorities, representatives of the local press, people running agritourism farms, employees of the tourist information office, lovers of cycling tourism. A field presentation of parts of the cycle track was prepared for the conference participants. Participants also received gifts promoting safe cycling.
The ceremonial opening of the route combined with a bicycle rally attended by invited representatives of local government authorities, representatives of the local press, people running agritourism farms, employees of the tourist information office and cycling enthusiasts, foresters (60 people in total). The opening began on the Slovak side in Driečna. On one of the built recreation areas, the opening of the routes was initiated, followed by the ceremonial opening of a single bicycle route. After the first run of the route, a meal was prepared for the participants before departure to continue the task on the Polish side.
  • To organize a rally opening a cycle route . On the Polish side, the participants continued the rally along a marked cycle route. Stops took place in the places where the shelters were built. The rally ended in Puławy, where the tasks completed in the project were presented in the form of a presentation.
