Promotion of the natural and cultural heritage of the borderland among young people

Even though the area of the Polish-Slovak borderland belongs to very attractive natural areas, a smaller percentage of young people choose the natural environment as a place of rest and relaxation. Therefore, the two hiking camps in the mountains planned in the project (one on the Slovak side - on the mountain ranges of the High Tatras, the other on the Polish side in the Bieszczady Mountains), as well as a series of ten meetings between students and travelers, were an excellent way to popularize spending time actively in the natural surroundings of the Polish borderland. - Słowacki and contributed to arousing the interest of young people in natural heritage. Additionally, two outdoor events were organized in Tyczyn and Svidnik, devoted to the history and cultural heritage of the borderland, and a scientific conference.

The main activities carried out under the project:

  • Organization of two joint hiking camps in the mountains for young people from Poland and Slovakia. The task was aimed at popularizing young people from the Rzeszów poviat and the city of Svidnik to spend time actively in the natural surroundings of the borderland. For 5 days, the youth wandered the mountain ranges of the High Tatras on the Slovak side. 10 students from the Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. National Education Commission in Dynów and 6 students of the partner schools of Svidnik along with 2 guardians. The second, slightly shorter, 3-day camp was held in the Polish part of the Bieszczady Mountains. It was attended by 8 students of the Technical and Veterinary School Complex in Trzciana and 11 students of a secondary school from Svidnik, Slovakia, along with 2 tutors.
  • Organization of a series of 10 meetings between students and travelers . As part of the task, two-hour (2 x 45 min) meetings of children and young people were conducted, led by Mr. Lukasz Łagożny, the 2018 winner of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. As part of the meetings, a film about the preparations and expedition to Mount Everest was presented, interesting events and adventures on different continents, cultural differences, and some of the most important rules of safe travel and mountain exploration were presented. Participants also had the opportunity to see and even try on professional equipment for high mountain climbing, which was brought and discussed by the traveler. 4 meetings were held in schools in the city of Svidnik, and 6 in schools in the Rzeszów poviat. A total of 200 students participated in the meetings.
  • Organization of open-air events in Tyczyn and Svidnik. "Borderland in the past and today". During these two events, participants could see historical and current photos and films presenting the Rzeszów poviat and the Presov period. The presentation was supplemented with comparative statistical data and an exhibition of the old regional costumes and military equipment. In addition to historical films displayed on the screen, an extensive exhibition of photographs, clothes and uniforms from the last 100 years of the Polish-Slovak border area, you could listen to the performance of folk groups. Anyone interested could participate in the events.
  • Organization of a conference on the promotion of activity in the environment of children and youth . During the conference, 4 experts shared their knowledge on methods of promoting the activity of children and youth towards their interest in the natural environment, as well as preventing addiction and cyberbullying among young people. The conference was attended by a total of 107 people from Poland and Slovakia (teachers, local government employees and parents of primary and secondary school students).
