Polish-Slovak travels in time

Bearing in mind the cultural potential of both regions, the project partners decided to take action to expose and promote such a diverse border area among residents and tourists, making it more attractive. As part of the project activities, a film was made in the form of an animation using 3D technology, showing the development of the history of Zagórze, with particular emphasis on common (universal) threads for the Carpathian region, additionally in Slovakia a historical reconstruction of warfare from World War I on the border was organized in an attractive form bring closer the events that took place in the Polish-Slovak border area. A book will also be published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The main activities carried out under the project:

  • Development of a film using 3D technology showing the development of the history of Zagórze . The film was made in the form of an animation using 3D technology and presents the development of the history of Zagórze, with particular emphasis on common (universal) threads for the Carpathian region. A wide range of animation techniques combined with film recordings, a voice-over and background music were used to prepare the film. The image prepared in this way has become an excellent promotional tool that is used both for marketing and educational purposes. On the one hand, the film is an attractive form of communication containing events common to the history of both nations, and on the other hand, it is a concrete and innovative marketing tool.
  • Reconstruction of World War I battles and publication . In connection with the centenary of the end of World War I, the first operation of the microproject was the historical reconstruction of the battles from that period in the town of Medzilaborce, in which the period was used: a truck and guns, and a military field dressing point was organized. The reconstruction of the fights was accompanied by various other events: the ceremonial laying of wreaths at the "Delo" monument at the war cemetery during World War I, a concert of military music from that period and folk music from that period related to the subject of war, fashion shows and scenes from life, shows weapons and equipment, air shows, exhibitions, lectures by historians and researchers, festival of military cuisine, accompanying events for children. About 2,000 people participated in the reconstruction. A publication has also been issued focusing on the overall history of the city from the first written record from the First and Second World Wars to the present day. The book focuses on Polish-Slovak events, cultural and natural heritage on both sides of the border.
  • Organization of a conference summarizing the project . The conference was open due to the fact that it was organized during the ceremony of unveiling the Monument to the Unknown Confederate in Zagórze. In addition to officially invited guests from Poland and Slovakia, the conference was attended by numerous residents of the Zagórz Commune. Thanks to the presentation of the project's products in a multimedia form, everyone had the opportunity to see the effects of the project in the form of: events in Slovakia, which was the reconstruction of World War I fights, the publication of a book by Mesto Medzilaborce, and a film using 3D technology prepared by the Zagórz Commune.
