Implementation period:   01/04/2017 - 31/03/2018

Realized project value: € 41,975.24,   including co-financing from the ERDF: 35 678.95 € ,

Thanks to the implementation of the project, the yellow trail on both sides of the border was modernized, which undoubtedly contributed to increasing its attractiveness. On the Polish side, in Olchowiec, the "Olchowiec" nature and cultural path was separated from the yellow hiking trail and extended with an additional new part (relating to cultural and natural heritage), so that it had the shape of a loop. The nature trail was connected with the yellow trail on the Slovak side via Baranie ("hill"). The yellow trail on the Slovak side was modernized to Vyšna Pisana and connected to the red trail (Slovak border trail). To make hiking more attractive, the trail and path were equipped with tourist infrastructure: information boards, benches, a fireplace with benches, signposts. In addition, a mobile guide has been created, both on the Polish and Slovak side, thanks to which discovering attractive places and nature and history education in the field is much more attractive for tourists.

The main activities carried out under the project:

  • Modernization of the yellow trail on the Polish side . A part of the yellow trail has been separated by a natural and historical path called "Olchowiec" and extended by an additional part - so that it has the shape of an 11.5 km long loop. The nature and history path has been connected to the yellow trail on the Slovak side by Baranie ("hill") and is part of the Polish cross-border tourist trail. On the modernized trail, which starts in Olchowiec at the People's House, accompanying infrastructure was created: the "Park and drive" point, information boards, open fire places with benches, number stopping points, signposts, footbridges across ravines and wooden benches without foundations. The path along its entire length, ie 11.5 km, has been marked with a black mark.
  • Modernization of the yellow trail on the Slovak side . From the state border from the peak / Baranie - Stavok / to the village of Vyšná Pisaná at a length of 7 km, the yellow trail has been modernized and connected with the red trail. It is equipped with signs, indicators and accompanying infrastructure: a place for a bonfire with benches and two information boards, free-standing benches. An information brochure has been published to promote the trail and the village of Vyšná Pisaná.
  • Creating a mobile guide on the Polish side consisting of 15 stops on a virtual path, which allows unorganized tourists (families, groups of friends, students, etc.), as well as organized tourists to discover attractive places and provide natural and historical education in the field. Radio transmitters using Bluetooth technology have been installed at each stop, which makes walking the 11.5 km long section of the "Olchowiec" path more attractive. By creating a virtual version of it, visitors and tourists from all over the world can get acquainted with this topic well in advance. At each stop, a transmitter has been installed that sends extended information and interesting facts about a given point on the route to the smartphone. The Slovak and English language versions (summaries) were also prepared.
  • Creation of a mobile guide on the Slovak side in a trilingual version (Slovak, Polish and English) enabling, similarly to the Polish side, discovering attractive places and natural history education in the field. Radio transmitters using Bluetooth technology have been placed on a section of 7 kilometers of the yellow trail. By creating a virtual version of the path, visitors and tourists from all over the world can get acquainted with this topic well in advance.
  • The event promoting the modernization of the trail and marking the natural and cultural path "Olchowiec" consisted in the joint passage of the participants through a fragment of the cross-border trail and the entire loop of the "Olchowiec" path. 102 people from Poland and Slovakia participated in the opening of the path, for whom the organizers prepared materials and gadgets promoting the new cross-border trail.
