

Development of natural and historical heritage in the Polish-Slovak border area

The main goal of the project was to increase the attractiveness and tourist accessibility of the Polish-Slovak borderland. As a result of the project on the Polish side, in the historic park on the premises of the Stawiarski Palace, a nature and educational path was marked out and marked, and the Palace's premises were adapted for museum rooms. On the Slovak side, thanks to joint initiatives, the Road Museum was established, which is guided by the idea of preserving the traditional craftsmanship of road workers, the preservation of machines that are no longer used and are being replaced by new road machines. The partners did not focus only on the implementation of investment tasks. Soft activities were also organized in the form of workshops and conferences. Joint activities with the Slovak partner made it possible to create durable products based on cultural and natural heritage, and thus contributed to its protection, promotion and development.
The main activities carried out under the project:
- Marking out and marking the nature and educational path in the historic park on the premises of the Stawiarski Palace in Jedlicze and adaptation of the Palace rooms for the purpose of museum rooms. As part of the task, the tourist infrastructure was developed at the existing attractions on the Beskidzkie Museums Cross-Border Bicycle Trail. 21 stops on the nature path were made, trees and shrubs were planted, and 2 rooms in the historic Palace building were adapted for the purpose of conducting workshops / museum lessons. These works included minor renovation works and equipping museum rooms for workshops / lessons related to the preservation of natural and historical heritage.
- Adaptation of the area for the purpose of establishing the Road Museum in Svidnik. On the Slovak side, 4 roofs of the historic equipment that make up the museum's exhibits were made. As a result of the task, the first road museum in the Prešov region was created, which was a response to the problem of the failure to maintain the tradition of road construction, repair and maintenance in the Polish-Slovak border area.
- A series of events on the Polish side "Save from oblivion - I love and respect nature" Workshops and museum lessons were carried out in the historic Park on the newly created educational and nature path and in adapted rooms in the historic Stawiarski Palace. Workshops for 12 groups of 20 people were organized, including: 15 people from Poland and 5 people from Slovakia. In total, 240 people participated in the workshops and museum lessons, including 60 people from Slovakia and 180 people from Poland. The following thematic workshops were carried out: "Using the natural potential of the border area in herbal medicine", Medical and pharmaceutical biology and biotechnology, "Health-promoting properties of bee and plant products", "Ancient and modern herbalism," Closer to nature "and" Adventure with nature ". As part of the classes, participants had the opportunity to use the equipment, equipment and teaching aids. The younger participants created their own herbarium, painted trees and nature. Older participants learned how to create their own garden, planted plants, learned about herbs, and then, with their help, used the purchased products to prepare natural cosmetics.
- A series of events on the Slovak side "Save from oblivion - preservation of the traditional road workers' craft". In Slovakia, a bilingual book was published describing issues related to road crafts, incl. the way roads were built, how they were maintained, how the routes were made and many other topics. An online conference was also organized due to the continuing pandemic situation.
- A summary conference as an exchange of common experiences. The event took place in the historic park at the Stawiarski Palace in Jedlicze. During the conference, the nature and educational path was presented. Participants watched a nature film, workshops on the use of herbal medicine in medicine were held. The conference was attended by 50 people, ie 30 people from Poland and 20 people from Slovakia.
