Beneficiary: Presov University in Presov
Polish partner: University of Rzeszow
Implementation period: 01/06/2017 - 31/05/2018
Realized project value: € 78 321.62 , including ERDF co-financing: € 66 573.37 ,
The project was intended to disseminate knowledge about archaeological relics of the past (still discovered in the Podkarpackie Province and the Prešov Region) and to increase the interest in shared history and emphasize the interrelationships between regions currently located on different sides of the state borders. The project was aimed at a diverse audience, especially people who are not professionally involved in archeology and history. It assumed the creation and sharing on an internet platform of an interactive map of archaeological sites from the Bronze Age on the Slovak-Polish border, as well as conducting 3D scanning and printing of selected artifacts from sites located in Poland and Slovakia. The fruits of Slovak-Polish cooperation were also: a scientific conference, a publication made available to all interested parties in electronic form, and a mobile exhibition using 3D prints and other educational materials.
The main activities carried out under the project:
- Cartographic summary of the current state of monuments and archaeological sites from the Bronze Age in the province Preszów and Subcarpathia . The task was to create an interactive map presenting archaeological sites from the Bronze Age from the Podkarpackie Province and the Prešov Region, with monuments confirming mutual contacts and common traditions of the population of the Slovak-Polish borderland. Data for the application (with over 80 archaeological sites) was collected during a source query conducted by archaeologists.
- Scanning and 3D printing of archaeological sites and monuments . Preparation of a joint exhibition. As part of the task, 24 artifacts were scanned and printed in 3D technology - unique items from the Bronze Age constituting a source of information about life in this era. Products made of bronze (axes with and without a sleeve, a dagger with rivets, spearheads, arrowhead, bracelets, pins, fishing hook, part of the armor, a heart-shaped pendant and a sickle), bones (bow cladding, chisel, amulet) were subjected to 3D scanning and printing. ), stone (casting mold) and clay (peat / plaster). There were 14 monuments from Slovakia and 10 from Poland. Part of the task was the exhibition "3D models of artifacts from the Bronze Age", presented at the seat of the Center for Sociological-Historical and Cultural-Historical Research of the University of Prešov in Prešov, and then at the University of Rzeszów
- Preparation of a joint conference and publication of the project . The conference was held in Rzeszów, in the seat of the university there were two thematic blocks: "Archaeological research on the Bronze Age on the Slovak-Polish border" and "Protection and promotion of archaeological heritage on the Slovak-Polish border - achievements, problems, perspectives". A total of 76 participants took part in the deliberations. Part of the conference program was a trip for 30 participants to Sanok (place of discoveries included in the project), during which they visited the Museum of Folk Architecture with the archaeological sector and heard lectures on the Bronze Age settlement. On the way to Sanok, the participants visited the archaeological site in Tyrawa Solna. The second result of the task was the publication of a three-language (Polish-Slovak-English) publication containing 8 texts, aimed at disseminating knowledge about the archaeological heritage and promoting the borderland region.
